This is how I saddle my horses. The saddle is a very heavy cutting saddle and the horse is at least 14.3 hh and I am about 5'3', about the same height as the horse. It is very easy to get the saddle to the horse and place it where you want from your head. If the saddle rack is head height you never have to lift the saddle up at all. Note that I can get the saddle out of the narrow doorway. Horses need to get used to the sight of the saddle on your head but most horses only take a few minutes to get familiar. Down side is that it looks really funny - but it is sooo easy.
